CARE continues with its work helping flood victims in Pando
CARE International in Bolivia, as part of it official action, sent an important donation to the Departmental Health Service (SEDES), through the Operative Committee for Departmental Emergencies (COE Pando), with the aim of co-aiding the work of providing aid to flood affected families that live in rural and urban areas in the various municipalities of the department.
The donation was made by Manuel Diez Canseco, Manager of the Tri-National Amazon Program, representing CARE Bolivia, the Department Director for the Pando SEDES Environmental and Disaster Health Program, Dr. Guillermo Lutffi G. and Roberto Hurtado respectively; before the representatives of the Pando COE, Guillermo Rioja as the delegated President of the Prefecture and the Departmental Director for Civil Defence, Cnl. DAEN Gonzalo Orozco G.
The donation is aimed to support the work carried out by the SEDES, so as to help them bring these supplies to the affected zones in time. In this sense, the boat motor is designed to enable one of the floats of the aforementioned institution; the medicines will be distributed in the rural area by a commission of the Pando SEDES Environmental and Disaster Health Program; meanwhile the fumigators are destined for 5 health centres in the city of Cobija to support the campaigns in the fight against dengue fever and malaria.
In this way, CARE Bolivia reaffirms its institutional commitment to work jointly with local organizations, in order to facilitate humanitarian aid in emergency situations.
