Our 32nd Anniversary…
It has been 32 years since CARE began its work in Bolivia, focused in making a country of hope, tolerance and social justice, in which poverty has been overcome and the people live with dignity, security and exercise their rights. This is being achieved year on year, helping the people and their families in the country’s poorest communities by uniting our efforts with other social actors to achieve a greater impact in the lives and development of the Bolivian population.
The birth and foundation
On the 27th of February 1976 CARE formally began its work in Bolivia under an agreement with the Bolivian Government, focusing its work – within the first few years – in constructing basic rural water systems and latrines to later expand its activities into other areas.
The Work
For the last 32 years and with a firm promise to our country, CARE International Bolivia has responded to the needs of disadvantaged Bolivians through its intervention in areas such as water and sanitation, health, food security, education, agriculture, natural resources, income generation and emergency aid. In the last few years it has benefited more than one and a half million people that live in the most disadvantaged areas of Bolivia, financed by donations from overseas. CARE’s current intervention areas are focused in 8 departments: Tarija, Chuquisaca, Cochabamba, Pando, Beni, Santa Cruz, La Paz, Potosí in 74 municipalities through 14 projects.
