Quality business training for micro-businesses and professionals
For people need basic business and all those that are involved in business activities (commerce, services, production, transformation) that the PROMOVER project was put in place, strengthened by training in business management and further advice, also motivating the people enrolled on the program, the project is concerned with finding strategic allies in micro-finance institutions which believe in the establishment of micro-enterprises in the city of El Alto.
The daily reality for people living in the city of El Alto is that of a day-to-day fight to “survive.” People with scarce resources take the decision to sell in the streets, as a means of generating an income for their families and this activity has boomed.
Within El Alto there are a group people qualified in a number of different areas looking to start their own businesses in order to become self-employed, which allows them to counteract the shortage of jobs available to them.
All of these people need basic business training for their businesses to work and to develop appropriately and effectively. For this reason it is seen to be a appropriate to incentivise people to improve the activities of micro-businesses and services, and with adequate support and advice better competitiveness in the market can be achieved.
It was for these people and all those that are involved in business activities (commerce, services, production, transformation) that the PROMOVER project was put in place, strengthened by training in business management and further advice, also motivating the people enrolled on the program, the project is concerned with finding strategic allies in micro-finance institutions which believe in the establishment of micro-enterprises in the city of El Alto.
PROMOVER, looking to improve its services, has moved its offices to a more comfortable environment where the businessman or future businessman involved in the project can receive better attention, from the training process right up to the use of business facilities.
Now, CARE Bolivia, alongside PRODEPE, through the Project regularly train people who have an interest in taking part in this initiative. The subject of training in management has been modified to specifically prioritize methodologies designed for the International Work Organization (OIT) and settlements regarding an agreement on the circumstances and facts about our country. The Project implements different methodologies in the business management workshops, for example- Start Your Business- ISUN combined with the Elements of Business Management- EGE methodology, to promote union and interactive learning, fomenting common support and interaction of the participants, also an incentive in learning principles, procedures and methods in directing their businesses.
The trainers form groups in different areas prioritizing assistance for 100% of the trainees and for all groups which are involved with the training in their own areas. The training courses are practical and dynamic from the first day, adapted to the know-how of each assistant, who will necessarily have to have an academic training, and is flexible regarding methodology and able to work with people who have reading and writing difficulties.
On the other hand, the participants that are not involved in business activities, can choose and define the best idea for a business, also the businessmen/women improve and bolster their skills in management, developing within the course fundamental areas for business action.
To start the training an Analysis of Necessary Business Services (ANSE) was made, which made known:
General data about participants.
Level of knowledge regarding business management.
Types of business and micro-enterprises established (in case already in existence).
Existing business plans (in case already in existence).
Social characteristics- specific cultural niche of all the participants.
Previous experience regarding business management, organization and execution of new projects.
The different rubric in available business plans or the business intentions of participants.
The training workshop lasts for ten days, starting with a personal evaluation of one’s business with respect to making a concrete business model; identifying the market, learning to organize the business, the cost of products or services, investment and planning, and indeed knowledge of the paths by which to legalise the business. All this information allows the participant to make and conclude a Business Plan, which identifies the state of the business and viable projects.
All these paths help to form the micro-enterprise, to improve quality of life, economic income and a good development of the business. All things learned in this process have been incorporated by PROMOVER. People specialised in the implementation of Business Plans accompany the people trained in the initiative. In the development process they come together to achieve results.
